Thoth Card Notes- The Fool
0. IF the question refers to spiritual matters, the Fool means idea, thought, spirituality, that which endeavors to transcend Earth. But if question is material, it means folly, stupidity, eccentricity, or even mania.
Heart on your sleeve can become your net. Slow and surely we become something but that something can be far from what we want, or intend really. Our desires and us outgrow the tight bonds of our environment. There is always more of us that we can't control. Internalized beliefs. Can we control our fantasies or not?
Sun as a codpiece on ultimately androgynous figure is interesting. Because we cannot know what is there. Sure, the Sun as masculine principle implies penis, but the figure remains androgynous. If the World is indeed the complete, androgynous integrated, then what does it say if the end, if nothing is also androgynous, unknowable, chaotic? Are they the same, feeding each other over and over? Do we remake ourselves with every journey? Prepared to lose parts of selves?
Le Mat always collapses into Magician/Juggler via their evolutionary history. In some decks these cards combine, take the idea of each other, etc. In many ways, The Fool is way more deeper companion to Magician than the High Priestess in modern decks, regardless of the intents of esoteric orders who literally numbered them as such. If we look at the binary proposition and forget about the gender, we see IS - IS NOT. While the Fool represents is not, or is not yet, Magician represents IS. 0 and 1. Although, in a way, our Fool is on the precipice of 0 becoming anything. Why carry the entire Zodiac in your bag? Because unlike what modern astrology tells us, we also have a bit of every star and signs inside of us. The Fool, in the spirit of the Masquerade is ready to become them all, at the moments notice, to pass through each sign and taste the flesh of every planet.
The tiger is pathetic, compared to our Fool, and so is the crocodile. Are they a threat? Are we, in our drunkenness forgetting about the dangers of such things? Careful you fool, nature still surrounds you. In many ways, this is a folly of men, forgetting nature doesn't serve him, but is merely there and plenty alligators lurk in the waters. Water and jaw alike aren't as free as air - they are not environment for us. They bind, constrict. But we are born from the waters, pushed out of the deep body. We came from the ocean as well. It is our humble origin. And then, on the tiger - it is a fairy tale motif that a hero has to ask a beast, normally a huge bird, for help. He prepares rams for the animal which carries him somewhere. However, they run out of food for the beast, and losing strength, the hero has to cut a bit of his thigh to make the last leg of the journey. Symbolically losing flesh reminds us of Jesus sharing his flesh with his disciples. It is feeding ravenous and furious side of yourself. Willingness to be hurt and dismembered during this life. This, connects it to alchemy and the very process of transmutation.
In our womb, are we the product of just our two parents genetic info, or are we something else? What parts is us and what them? Logistically speaking, their own genes already recombined into combinations they didn't carry, and many things can happen between becoming a being and the differentiation of the sexual cells. When do we become our own individual? Perhaps it is on our journey. We are chimera of so many different patches. similar to many, dissimilar to even more.
